THE HOT SPOTS

PEEPAL PEOPLE.

Peepal People is doing something none of our other producers are: taking the South Asian pantry seriously as a hot sauce tradition, then crafting it into hot sauces that work just as well on a taco as on a samosa.

Peepal People

Atlanta, Georgia

The essence in every Peepal People sauce is the pantry: amchur, Kashmiri mirch, anardana, turmeric — ingredients with centuries of use behind them, put to work in a format that belongs on an American table.

Mango Jalapeño ($8.00) is the one to start with. Jalapeño pepper mash, green Serrano Pepper mash, tomatillos, tangy amchur (dry mango) powder and fresh cilantro make a chutney-like green sauce that is bright and refreshing with a very mild, approachable kick. It is genuinely versatile — samosas, tacos, grilled meats, grain bowls, roasted vegetables, or straight up as a dip.

Turmeric Habanero ($8.00) steps up the heat with fermented orange habaneros, sweet yellow bells, onions and earthy turmeric. That turmeric-and-fermented-habanero combination is unusual, and it is what makes this one so good on curries, fish and rice dishes.

Garlic Ghost ($8.00) is for serious spice lovers — garlic, Kashmiri mirch, anardana and the slow-burning intensity of ghost peppers. Rich and savory underneath, genuinely intense on top.

A note for anyone who bought these before: the brand rebranded and renamed its lineup. Mango Jalapeño was previously Hara Bhara, Turmeric Habanero was Peela Patakha, and Garlic Ghost was Bhoot Bangla. Same sauces, new names.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes hot sauce in Atlanta?

Peepal People is the Atlanta hot sauce maker we carry at Pepper Pyros. They produce South Asian-inspired fermented hot sauces built on ingredients like amchur, Kashmiri mirch, anardana and turmeric.

What does Peepal People hot sauce taste like?

Not like your typical vinegar-forward sauces. Mango Jalapeño is chutney-like, herbal and mild; Turmeric Habanero is fruity and earthy at a hotter level; Garlic Ghost is savory and very hot.

Are Peepal People sauces only for Indian food?

No. They were designed for everyday use. Mango Jalapeño works on tacos, grain bowls and roasted vegetables as readily as on samosas, and Turmeric Habanero is excellent on fish.

What happened to Hara Bhara, Peela Patakha and Bhoot Bangla?

They were renamed during the brand's rebrand. Hara Bhara is now Mango Jalapeño, Peela Patakha is now Turmeric Habanero, and Bhoot Bangla is now Garlic Ghost. The recipes are unchanged.
