Hot sauce tastes like where it comes from. A Philadelphia sauce carries the swagger of a cheesesteak counter; a Vermont sauce tastes like the farm the peppers grew on. The Hot Spots are the places behind every bottle we carry — and the independent makers who put them on the map.

About The Hot Spots
The Hot Spots are the cities and states where the independent hot sauce makers stocked by Pepper Pyros produce their sauces. Each one has its own page profiling the makers, explaining what sets their sauces apart, and linking to the sauces we carry from that region.
We currently carry craft hot sauces from four regions: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Hotbox Philly, Kevin's Fire Sauce, Mammoth Sauce Co. and Weaksauce Philly); Vermont (Benito's Hot Sauce and Bloodroot Mountain); Atlanta, Georgia (Peepal People); and Columbus, Ohio (Flavor & Fire).
The Philadelphia makers we carry are Hotbox Philly, Kevin's Fire Sauce, Mammoth Sauce Co. (Willow Grove, PA) and Weaksauce Philly. All four are small-batch producers using locally grown peppers wherever they can.
Vermont makers lean hard on local agriculture. Benito's Hot Sauce uses Vermont-grown ghost peppers, birdseye peppers, garlic scapes and carrots from named farms, with no xanthan gum, starches or fillers. Bloodroot Mountain smokes its own serranos. The result tastes more like fresh produce than vinegar.
We follow the sauce. When we find two or three makers in a city doing genuinely distinct work, we might visit or order a sample to taste. And if it earns a spot on the shelf we build a region page around it. Tell us about a maker in your city and we may go look!
Is your city saucy?
We are always hunting for the next scene. If there is a small-batch maker in your city we should be carrying, email us and tell us who they are.
